Grammy Award-winning artist Flying Lotus (Steve Ellison) returns to Aotearoa this early winter with his signature fusion of hip-hop, jazz, electronic beats, and experimental sound. Over a career spanning more than a decade, he has released critically acclaimed albums and collaborated with Kendrick Lamar, Solange, Thom Yorke, and Herbie Hancock. He is also the founder of the influential label Brainfeeder.

His latest release, the seven-track EP Big Mama (March 2026), was produced entirely in New Zealand while Flying Lotus worked on his debut sci-fi thriller Ash. Accompanied by a short film, he describes the EP as an “experimental, maximalist, hyperfast, electronic burst of energy… unpredictable and alive.”
