The popular quartet, Douce Ambiance return to Invercargill with a new performance once again, showcasing their brilliant versatility and creativity.
Part planned, part improvised, they move effortlessly between an evocative array of musical styles and genres - flamenco, classical, Irish, light jazz, Spanish choro, Gypsy and more, led by the rich, beautiful tone of Cathy’s violin.
A special highlight will be the performance of two of Piazzolla's most captivating and exciting works - the sweet and gentle Tanti Anni Prima "Ave Maria, and the contrasting Escualo "The Shark," an intense and rhythmically compelling work.
Escualo was inspired by the composer's passion for shark fishing and from the very opening, it will have you hooked!
All the musicians - Cathy Irons (violin), Dan Robertson (keyboard), Dougal Canard (guitar, double bass) and Douglas Brush (percussion) perform with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and share an impressive wealth of international experience between them.
With a deep interest in both the classical and contemporary worlds, Douce Ambiance display a strong musical connection and infectious delight in performing together.
Douce Ambiance have toured many times throughout New Zealand to full houses and standing ovations, and this concert is part of their 2026 South Island 12-centre tour.
